Cypress is a more attractive, more durable, less costly alternative for your home needs: siding, decks, walls.

Why choose Cypress over Cedar?

For openers, Midwest Cypress Products siding is 50% thicker than Cedar siding. Note the difference in the picture. Cypress is on the left. Actual dimension of our Cypress siding is 3/4 x 7 1/4. Most Cedar is 1/2 x 7 1/4. In addition to our beefier material we have a lip machined in the thick edge of our siding so the back of the siding lays tight against the wall. This makes installation easier and virtually eliminates cracking or splitting the thin edge of the siding.

Cypress siding will weather to a dark grey color if left untreated and has a light honey brown color when treated with a clear sealer. Cypress will take and hold clear as well as pigmented stains, paint and sealers extremely well. For maximum life and beauty all exterior wood siding should be back primed and treated with a high quality topcoat.

Last but not least, Cypress is a denser wood that will not show wear and tear as easily as Western Red Cedar. The Cypress around a basketball goal mounted on a garage will look good for years longer than Cedar. Hail will bounce right off!
